This is a scary time for many people across the world. People who are at high risk for viruses and infections are really hiding away due to the pandemic. The pandemic is very easy to spread and pick up and people who are high risk and have an ostomy are sometimes a bit frightened. The big issue I heard is that they do not have enough ostomy supplies to ensure they feel safe if things go a bit south again. The sanitary ostomy supplies are key and when those went away and disappeared from shelves people got a bit scared. I will admit I got a bit scared too.
But surviving pandemic is not the end of the world; it simply means being a little more prepared. Now that the first wave is over and the second resurgence is on the way back, people are a little more ready this time around. Since supplies got a bit short last time people have decided to stock on in the months after the virus hit. Many people have the supplies on hand for months in order to protect themselves and others.
Personally, I have picked up about a month's worth of extra supplies. I did not do all of this at once though. I didn't want to put an extra burden on the system. When ordering over the last 4 months I have tried to get a little extra each time. This has allowed me to create a small stash of extra supplies. I understand not everyone can do this and sometimes their medical provider or insurance wont allow it. But if you can, I suggest being safer, rather than being sorry. I think getting those extra supplies that ran out last time, can be a good thing to have on hand. Yes, more than just extra tp. I am not a prepper, but I do believe in being prepared after seeing our supply chain shut down for some cities.
Seeing local pharmacies burn and no one being held responsible let me know that bad things can happen and do happen in the United States. I feel so bad for the local stores and pharmacies that were hit the hardest and now must rely on insurance in order to rebuild. I suggest supporting local stores if you can for your extra gear, because they will be hit the hardest. I like for us all to succeed. Stay safe and be well.
